Professor Claire Samson recently served on a panel of international experts for NASA. She provided input as science evaluator during the final phase for the selection of the next missions to be flown under the Discovery program which has a budget envelope of $450M per mission. Dr. Michael New, NASA Lead Discovery Program Scientist, wrote a letter of appreciation to acknowledge Professor Samson’s contribution. The two missions selected were: Lucy (flyby near Jupiter’s Trojan asteroids) and Psyche (flyby near an iron asteroid).
