10th Annual OCUSEG Career Day 2016

Did you attend Career Day 2016?

This is a venue for undergraduate and graduate Earth Sciences students to learn about potential careers in the mining and exploration industries, directly from industry professionals. It is an opportunity for students in earth sciences and geophysics to network with representatives from mining, exploration, environmental and geophysics companies, as well as a variety of consulting firms, provincial and federal geological surveys.

This year's list of speakers and the companies or surveys they represent is available here. Approximately 30 Carleton students were in attendance, as well as 20 from the University of Ottawa. The students were very attentive and asked lots of great questions throughout the day. The presenters were extremely happy with the turnout and the students' enthusiasm. The Ontario Geological Survey provided an excellent lunch for all. The day concluded with a networking and social event at the Royal Oak, which was well attended.

Career Day is a great opportunity that is not to be missed! Look for it again at the beginning of Winter term 2017.
