Forrester Wins First GAC®-PDAC Logan Student Prize

The Department of Earth Sciences is thrilled to announce that Mr. Joshuah Forrester is the recipient of the first annual GAC®-PDAC Logan Student Prize at Carleton University. He received the award this afternoon at the conclusion of Defence Day - 4th Year Honours Thesis Students

The criteria for this award are that the student have a solid academic record, occupy a leadership role within the department, and enjoy success in the field. Josh is the current president of the Carleton University Geology Society (GeoSoc). He recently completed his Honours thesis under the supervision of Professor Nadine Wittig and co-supervision of Adjunct Research Professor Michael Easton of the Ontario Geological Survey.  

This prize includes a lump sum, a year's memberships to both the Geological Association of Canada (GAC) and the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada (PDAC), and an online certificate of achievement. The objective of the Logan Student Trust Fund is to “support the career and academic advancement of geoscience students”.

This prize has been awarded to one undergraduate student at each of the Council of Chairs of Canadian Earth Science Departments-participating departments. The full list of award recipients is available here
