Dr. Wittig publishes in International Journal

Thursday, February 5, 2015

Professor Nadine Wittig has recently published in the International Journal of Earth Sciences. The paper, entitled Hf–Zr anomalies in clinopyroxene from mantle xenoliths from France and Poland: implications for Lu–Hf dating of spinel peridotite lithospheric mantle, appears in the current issue of January 2015.

This paper describes the chemical analysis of small mineral grains. The data modeling which followed produced an unexpected result. This is significant with regards to the technique of dating rocks.

This article was co-authored by Hilary Downes, Caja de Vries and Nadine Wittig. Dr. Downes is a Professor of Geochemistry at Birkbeck University of London. She supervised both Caja de Vries and Professor Wittig as graduate students. Our own Nadine Wittig is now an Assistant Professor in Isotope Geochemistry.

The International Journal of Earth Sciences is a monthly, peer-reviewed scientific journal. It spans a wide variety of subject areas, including mineral deposits, sedimetology, volcanology, and marine and continental ecosystems. This paper advances the subdiscipline of geochronology.
