Abstract

Metamorphic phase equilibria modelling is rapidly becoming an essential part of a geologist’s toolkit. In this talk, a brief overview of the state-of-the-art in this technique will be given, followed by several examples of how petrological modelling can be applied to solve geological problems. The case studies will feature pelite from Tibet, eclogite from Japan and migmatite from Baffin Island, and illustrate how effective phase equilibria modelling has become as model systems increasingly converge upon natural systems.
